Energy Upgrade California™ Home Upgrade provides assistance and incentives for home improvement projects that can help
- Conserve resources and reduce greenhouse gases
- Make your home more comfortable in all seasons
- Improve the air quality inside your home for a healthier and safer indoor environment
- Save energy and lower your bills
The program is managed locally by San Diego Gas & Electric, and supported by the California Public Utilities Commission in collaboration with the California Energy Commission. Home Upgrades are completed by participating Home Performance Contractors.

Energy Rebates
SDG&E is offering rebates through December 31, 2014 for energy efficient appliances purchased last year or this year. These include: refrigerator, washing machine, furnace, water heater, wall insulation, room air conditioner, and swimming pool pump.

Energy Savings Assistance Program
If you rent or own, and if you qualify, SDG&E’s authorized contractors will come to your home and may provide free:
- New, energy-efficient lighting
- Repair or replacement of doors and windows
- Microwaves, water heaters, refrigerators and high-efficiency clothes washers
- Insulation, weather stripping and caulking to lower heating and cooling costs

CARE (California Alternate Rates for Energy)

Health and Senior Support
Programs that help you keep your home safe or provide extra assistance:
- If you have a qualifying medical need you could save every month on your energy bill: Medical Baseline Allowance Program
- If you require your home and living space to be kept at a constant temperature because extreme heat poses a health risk and need to be notified about state-directed rotating outages: Temperature Sensitive Program
- Designate a friend, relative or community agency to help someone avoid an unnecessary disruption of service: Third-Party Notification Service
- If you, or someone you know, have limited vision, SDG&E may be able to provide certain services: Vision Impaired Program
